My system currently uses a GTX 295. I chose it because it seemed to have higher performance and benchmarks. However, when i look at the specs of the 295 compared to the 4870x2 the 4870x2 seems to be way ahead. Does anyone know what makes it better?
And another thing, my processor is a 955 BE @3.2Ghz and i was wondering if it would perform better with an ATI card, and if it holds back the 295.

Well apparently the 4870x2 has 1600 total stream proccessors, a higher clock speed, and a higher memory clock. Oddly i couldnt find anything on shader clock.

And i forgot to add, i play on a 23.6" monitor with 1920X1080 res, can the gtx 295 take that easily?

The shaders on ATI cards are clocked the same as the GPU, nvidia has them unlinked from each other. I think either card would be fine for that resolution.

You cant compare the specifications between nvidia and ati cards, they do not reflect performance differences.

My monitor is a 25.5" Asus and is 1920x1200. You have a good processor and the best graphics card.....i am jealous.

I have a C2Q@3.2 and I don't think I am bottle-necking on my processor at all, haven't tried any serious benchmarking tho and it going to depend on the individual game you are playing.
