Blank memories

All my Sims' memory pictures have gone blank. There are still the red
squares for bad and green squares for good but no pictures inside the box.
If you hover the mouse over them it tells you what the memory is but it's
not the same without the pictures. Has anybody else had this problem as I
am finding it really annoying?

Thanks

I believe this bug is somewhat common and IIRC you can get a fix for
it at www.modthesims2.com under "gameplay hacks". Look for "memories".
I know for sure I saw it somewhere else too, but can't remember the
site.

Discussion here:
http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=49055

It's also discussed at Various Simmers:

http://www.variousimmers.net/vsimforum/index.php

with the following fix:

Step-by-step:
1) enter your Sims uni CD in your drive
2) use a zip client to open compressed.zip on the CD
3) extract objects.package to C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims
2\TSData\Res\Objects (edit path for your system)
4) when asked to overwrite, do so
5) go to the folder above with Windows Explorer, and mark objects.package as
read only

Step 5 is not strictly necessary but may prevent the bug from reoccuring.
