I have 2 PCs I want to connect over internet. Connecting from PC running XP home (but can be upgraded to Pro if needed) to an XP Pro machine. As I understand, this can be dine using remote access that is part of XP (except for internet part requiring https extension (or VPN). I'm admin on both machines.
Only 2 PCs will ever interconnect this way, no need for "from anywhere in the world" feature.
How this is done?
In this case what is the difference between https extension and using 3rd party VPN as far as pros/cons to make a choice?
Requirements are quite minimal - to run accounting software and email client on target (server) machine. From what I read it's not clear if server PC has to run server OS; I don't think so.
