So I just put together my first build and sfsg. Here's the rundown:

CPU: Intel i7 2600k
Mobo: Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4
RAM: Vengeance 4x4GB DDR3 1600
Video: EVGA GTX580
Cooler: Antec 620
PSU: Corsair HX850
SSD: 2 OCZ Vertex 3 - 120GB
Case: Corsair 800D

Being new to OC'ing I'm kinda curious about a baseline for my BIOS settings. Does anyone have any recommendations for a n00b? :D

NOTE: Using RealTemp, my idle CPU temp is between 32-30-32-33. An hour of prime95 small FFTs my temps are 51-54-54-56. Does this sound right? I'm a little concerned about the variation between core 1 and 4 at full load. Do I need to reseat?

I have a 2500k; if ur starting off and using offset method I suggest you try something like a 43x multiplier and an offset of -(minus sign).060;additional turbo volt limit of .004 and CPU LLC at the second lowest setting on the board (I use a different Mobo to you so I am not sure how ur CPU LLC works).

Oh Yes and I would watch out for the temps a bit; to go beyond 4.6Ghz I had to get the Antec 920; I see you have the 620 and I heard that if you gang up an xtra fan it is pretty much the same performance as what I got.

BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU IS: Check out the threads from 4Ryan6 and Leaps from Shadows on this site.. they helped me a lot.

A small variance between core temps is absolutely normal.

Cheers Lex
