I was just browsing the CPUs at newegg and discovered this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103716

Athlon 5000+ with 45nm process! Could it be a very late revision? or maybe just a typo?

I going for typo. The Athlon II's are 45nm, but the X2 only went to 65.

Well it's cheaper to produce, not a bad move if you want to dump your old 90/65nm fab equipment.

It has to be a typo...

Athlon II > Athlon X2

Die size is so close together too...

Shrinking the Athlon X2 doesn't help, at all!

Would it oc any better?

It should do yes, by quite a bit, if true.

This whole thing seems very strange though, got no clue why AMD would shrink these and i think a few typo's are probably the most likely reason.

Well i guess thats the quickest way to figure out if it's a typo or not.

Revisions dont include die shrinks.

Well, they generally don't. However for this particular model, AMD included die shrinks from 90nm windsor to 65nm brisbane in the revisions. Call it what you want, I'm still curious.

Also, yesterday there was no picture and today there is. That means, at least, the site editors at newegg know about the page. To me, the fact that the page is being updated validates it.

This is starting to look legit.

Interesting, I noticed that on newegg today and thought the 2.2Ghz was a typo, never even looked at the fact it was 45nm.
