hi i would like to ask if it is possible to connect a home theater player e.g samsung to a sound card that supported a hdmi connector thanks guyz

It certainly is possible to do what you suggest.
Look into the ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 Slim, ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 or ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 Deluxe.
All three cards offer high quality sound reproduction and are able to deal with both HDMI input and output.
