What kind of CPU do you have in your main rig?
Nice, what is it though? besides "supercomputer"
Looks like a sofa with a computer built in.
me, i just have a intel P4 Prescott.

An old Cray supercomputer about as powerful as a 1996 era Pentium 1 system at 120 Mhz
I have a Q6600 (G0 stepping), clocked at 3.2ghz. Will probably leave upgrqading until next year. I'd like to see what the i9's do to the market when they come out.

Wooooh Mr Grumpy.
AC
Core i7 920 at stock speed and undervolted. Gets down to 0.768V at idle.
I have an x2 6000+ in my main system right now but I'm about to switch over to another system I have w\ an e6750 @ 3.4ghz which is currently idle @ 25c w\ a xigmatek AIO cooler.
My 6000+ idles cpu - 40 cores - 47-48
my wife has a q6600 @ 3ghz ... LOL : ) because she needs a quad core, 4gb 1066 and 1gb 4670 to surf the internet 4 sho.
Wow, I expected more people with dual cores.... guess im one of the few:
Athlon 5400 X2 2.8Ghz, Black Edition
I have an old Athlon X2 4800+, but I want to replace it for an Athlon II 620

Well so far im the only one with a intel single core system.
amd phenom 965x4@3.87ghz
warmon6 wrote : Well so far im the only one with a intel single core system.
Single core?
Why haven't you replaced it?
Dual cores are extremely cheap right now.
dunklegend wrote : Single core?
Still a working computer and i haven't had much of a reason to replace it. Surprisingly can handle some of today's games like assassins creed.

Well yeah, and with the winter coming, that P4 will save you some money in heating your house LOL
atm quad core...soon dual quad xeon :]
AMD Phenom II X4 810 @ 1.175v
Intel Q9450 @3.2GHz in primary, AMD 720BE @stock in backup.

Buy a 955 and overcloked to 3.8...is the same 965 but more cheap. I have one 955 to 3.8GHz.
And for the poll...in my home, on the desktop I have a Phenom X4 955, in the office is a Xeon x2...and the laptops have the same processor, core 2 duo.
the 965 costs $5 more then the 955 here
965 seems to have dropped a bit in the UK too. £163.43 on eBuyer.
AMD FX-60 at stock.
I've got an Athlon X2 7750 @ 3.0Ghz in what I will consider my main rig right now since I use it more than my other computers. I've also got a Phenom X4 9850 @ 3.0ghz and a Phenom II 940 @ 3.4Ghz in a couple other computers that I don't use as often.
My laptop T9600 at 3.3
My main rig E8400 @ 3.6(I have FSB hole in my mobo, 680i)
A tiny E6400 is ok except for gta iv and windows media encoder but at 3.4ghz helps when paired up with a 780i/790i or a x48 board.
So someone has "other", what is it?
The "Other" is probably a triple-core, like a 720BE.
Good point, I forgot about triple cripples.
One of Nvidias new fermi gpgpcpugpu's mby.
randomizer wrote : Good point, I forgot about triple cripples.
Yeah i forgot to make triple an option in the poll. Their not too common. Other refers to anything "other" than what is listed, so yeah i guess that includes triple cores.
Nice how intel quad cores are so popular.

haha, my phone is probably faster than that!

I have a picture of that Cray in my old Sept 1977 issue of Scientific American.
The issue was about microprocessors. Also it had a great article about what developments were going on at Xerox PARC with the Alto workstation and it's GUI.
intel core 2 duo e6600 @ 3.5Ghz FTW!
Depends on definition of "main machine".
My workhorse PC is a six year old XP2400+ that I am in the process of putting out to pasture.
New one will be a Q6600 OC'd to 3.3 GHz (turned down from 3.6 GHz) - my old gaming machine.
Gaming machine is a Q9550 OC'd to 3.6 GHz.
I also have a tinker/torrent box with an E5200 currently at 3.78 GHz. I need the speed for downloads.

Since you put it that way, I would say your main machine is the one you are most proud of.

ohh...i'm from Colombia....but always buy my PC parts in USA.....send me one!!!..jejejeje
ha its still expensive the 955 is $208 and the 965 is $213 here
955 is $189.99 and 965 is $245.00 here. lol
Phenom II 955 here. I got it for a good deal. Love this CPU.
I actually had the Phenom II 720 before this but I sold that to my uncle for 100 bucks and ended up putting that towards the 955. Worked out good for both him and myself, really!
Lowest price, I bought the 955 two weeks after arrive to newegg and I payed full price ($245)...
E8500 @ 3.8 stock voltage.
I am going to be buying a nice new Zalman cooler sometime this month btw and see if I can't get some uberfast speeds on the 955. I haven't OC'ed in a while just because AMD hasn't been too OC friendly in the Athlon x2 and orig Phenom era but I think the Phenom II might treat me well in that regard.
