I have a acer x1300 desktop. it is a slimeline but i wanted a computer for casual gaming(gf bought it for me) and i have no room for upgrades inside. So i bought a new motherboard(m-atx) and a full sized case(the case can mount m-atx mobos). The question that im asking is that will acer allow me to upgade my motherboard without giving me troubles because its a acer factory version of vista? like would it be able to recognize my new hardware or will i have to buy windows 7 full or something

OEM copies are linked to the motherboard usually. To switch a motherboard on a computer, you usually have to call Microsoft and tell them your motherboard died or something, blah blah and have them give it the okay. Thats how it works for Desktops, I can't imagine it being any different for a laptop. Assuming they gave you the windows disk with it :p
