I have a Celeron D 360 from a few years back just laying around and i was thinking about making a junk backup computer.
Crap i just have from past systems :
Celeron D 360
Foxconn Blackops X48
TRUE Black
4GB DDR3 1600
Two 80GB WD HD's In R0
Pair of 4770's in X Fire
650W BFG PSU
DVD Burner
I'm pretty sure she'll do 5Ghz with a TRUE but i don't want to assemble it if it's not going to run. Any idea's?
Foxconn's CPU compatibility web page for the Blackops X48 is down, but I highly doubt that the Celeron D 360 would work in that board. Intel supposedly removed support for NetBurst-based CPUs like your Celeron D 360 in the 30-series and later chipsets. You'd need a 955/965/975-based board to run the Celeron D. However, you can put just about any Core 2-based unit in that X48 board and give it a run for its money. The new Wolfdale 1M-based Celeron Dual Core E3xxx series is pretty cheap (the cheapest one is $52) and supposedly overclock very nicely with quite a few people getting to 4 GHz. I'd go that route if I were you.

------------------------------Upcoming Overdue Build: Dual-socket workstation, ~32 GB DDR3, OS on a fast SSD, high-end GPU, all wrapped up in a huge tower case. Coming H2 2011.
Yes, I am actually still running the Pentium III 1.0B Coppermine in the picture.

First post and the best answer. Thanks bro. An E3200 celeron was a possibility if the crapburst didn't work.
Edit - Fry's sell's a 50 dollar biostar G31 mobo that will run the 360. Jackpot baby. Hello 5Ghz

Cedar Mill (D0 stepping) was a little cracker, shame they were overshadowed by the Core 2 release at the same time period, but they could all reliably get close to 5GHz....
