I recently installed a new SSD in my computer when I had to RMA my hard drive. I have Win7 installed on the SSD. What I would like to do is create a partition on the fastest section of my WD 1002FAEX drive for FSX and a huge amount of addons I for it. I would like to set this partion at 300GB and leave the remaining area for data storage.

How do I create a 300GB partition at the front of the drive from win7?

If you're creating the partition using Windows Disk Management, just make sure it's the first partition you create. Partitions are created in order from the first logical block addresses (LBA) on up.

In the partition maps shown by Disk Management, the first LBAs (fastest tracks) are at the left side of the map.
