every time I make the new partition in win xp, after I reboot the changes are not recognized and C: remains the same?

I use Partition Magic 8.0, and have partitioned HDDs in XP to add W7 for a dual boot. I made the new partition "primary" ans set it to "active." I was able to do so, and just selected the new partition to install W7. W7 does make that partition "C" when I choose W7; it is not a problem.

I was running a MS access data program, which will only run in windows xp and access 2003. This program was set up to run through S: partition to be network with a laptop. My computer locked up and I had to reinstall everything. I do not have the original disk for this program, but am trying to get it up and running again. When I restored from my external hard drive without the S: partition, I receive an error message S:\(whatever) is an invalid path. My 24 year old computer wizard has abandoned me on this one. I appreciate any help. I just had success with Easus partition manager creating an S: partition, but bstill can't seem to get program running.
