Dumb NAS wanted...

Forum Storage : NAS/RAID Dumb NAS wanted...

I have a debian server set up an a plug-computer -- SheevaPlug which is network attached like a NAS. It fulfills many services media-server, print-server, file-server etc. One of it's main functions is backup. Currently I have an external 1 TB hdd attached to it via USB.

I want to attach a hot-swappable powered rack to it which would hold 3+ internal hdds. Basically like a dumb NAS, because I already have the smart part of it in the SheevaPlug. Is there such a thing? I've dug around a lot and have mostly found either "smart" NAS (their mobo's would just get in the way) or unpowered "rack" made for mounting in tower chassis.

Do hot-swappable powered hdd racks exist?

thx,

Thx, looks right. I also found a similar Sans Digital one. These are both JBOD but I'm assuming I could do a software Raid from debian on the Sheeva device?

thx,
