I am at the part of my new build where its time for drives. I was going to run 2 OCZ vertex3 SSD's in a raid 0 for my os and another pair of WD 750gig 6gps in another raid 0 for storage. My question is would this setup be better than a stand alone SSD for the os and 3 750s in raid 5?? This is my first raid build so I am still a litterl confused as to the pros and cons..

BTW the mobo does support 4 sata 6gps ports

Thnx

Don't waste your time with RAID 5. RAID 5 needs a most excellent controller. RAID 5 can take a performance hit during various write operations and is demanding on the CPU. I am not sure if TRIM supports RAID 0 (Striped) at this stage and you most definitely want TRIM support for those SSD's. Using RAID 0 offers very little in terms of real world performance. The only RAID option I use these days is RAID 1 (Mirroring) as having redundancy has a tangible benefit and is cheap to implement.
