Hello.

I have a Pentium D, but I'm looking to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo or a Core 2 Quad.

My motherboard is:

Manufacturer: ECS (or ELITEGROUP COMPUTER SYSTEMS)
Model: 945p-m3
Chipset: i945p

I know for a fact it's socket 775, I'm just not sure if the old technology can support Core 2 technology.

Thank you.

I found "cpu support" for the 945g-m3, but not your board. No core2 duo is listed, so the answer for yours is also probably no. If it's from an oem system such as dell or acer, then you can try changing to a newer micro-atx board and sell yours. Oem boards are worth more as the operating system installation may be dependant on the motherboard bios. You will have the same issue if you change to a non oem board.

I'm using 945P-M3 with E-6400.
