Hey, I've a friend looking to put together a new budget system for the first time; looking for Mobo, Processer, RAM, Case, Power Supply, and HD. The goal is under $400, where less is better, depending. It's for general use, I'm not sure what all, but not intended specifically for gaming etc. I don't really know much more than that...

As of now, he's wanting to order the following on Newegg in the next day or so:

ECS BLACK SERIES GF8200A (V1.0) AM2+/AM3 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition Kuma 2.8GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core Processor - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103678

OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2N800SR4GK - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820227269

(The above three are part of a newegg 'combo' deal good for another day)

RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WBP Black 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case With 500W Power Supply - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] ATX-612WBP

(Aesthetics aren't as important as functionality/price etc. with the case)

Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - OEM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] WD6401AALS

Thoughts? Would the above be all right? I know I've been rather vague, but if anyone has any advice/comments/suggestions etc. we'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Take a look at these:

Athlon II X2 250 - $87, costs more but much more efficient, faster too... and with the possibility of overclocking.

As well as these boards:

I prefer the 780G chipsets over the Geforce 8200, just me.

Totals to more cash, but the cpu upgrade is definitely worth it.
