Will 2 4890's in crossfire be sufficient?

Sufficient for what?
Do you already have the 4870x2? If you do then I can't see why you would consider it unless you have a trust fund.
If you don't then the two 4890s are better and also 2 4870s would be cheaper than a 4870x2.

There is no such thing as future proof. Though if you plan to have as long an upgrade cycle on this purchase as you did since you got the 1900 it might be prudent to wait a few months.

As for if these cards will be sufficient.. at what exactly? Your 1900 seems sufficient at pushing more than 5fps in crysis :p.

A single 4890 or GTX275 should give you exceptional performance in most games at 1920x1200:

It seems that only if you have a 30" monitor at 2560x1600 would two cards be of advantage.

2 4890s will perform better. If you look at the change from the 3000 series to 4000 series, the new mid-range card, 4670, performs about the same as the high-end 3850 from the previous generation. You'll see another big performance jump if you wait until October. Then again, 2.5-3 months might feel like an eternity.

2 4890s are supposed to be way better.

if your gonna be on vista for awhile then going with the 4890s would be worth it imo. its about as good as u can get atm and you'll be paying premium prices for a product we dont know how will scale in comparison.

Imo you should get 1 4890 and try it. It should do the job. After trying it for awhile if you feel you need more performance, you can always get another.

I'm pretty sure that you mean a Sharp LCD TV... So the question is, what res. can you use on it?
But, hey... Your money, waste it however you want.

Two 4890s would preform better than a single 4870X2. Really though, prices are so good on a regular 4870 1GB that I would just get two of those, as it's actually cheaper than getting a 4870X2.

If you can afford to get two 4890s and you want to do it now, then go for it. I say just get two 4870 1GBs for now.

The max on a TV(regardless of size) is currently 1080P which is 1920 x1080. Most games will direct the output to only one monitor. A single 4890 should be plenty. You get very little benefit from spending more.
