Bios Ati 4830 to 4850 ?

These guy's seem to have used the 4850 bios on a 4830 and had it working.
Has anyone tried this with same spec'd 4830 and 4850 cards / bios ?

Is it even worth trying ?

Would be interesting to see the 9.6 versus 9.7 drivers before and after comparison.

The ONLY way it would be 'worth' trying, is if you were needing a paperweight... or planning on trashing it anyways. That site you linked had that great jibberish BS symbols all over it... FAKE much?

Generally, 4830s are chips that aren't good enough to make it as 4850s. If there are defective shader blocks then enabling them will give you errors. It's also possible that the shaders may all work at reduced speeds.

^ kind of like when you unlock Phenom cores, it could work, it could not. Of course if it doesn't work you can't easily reset the BIOS on that card so you could very well kill it.
