I had 2 internal 500GB WD HDs, 1 died, I replaced it with a 500GB Seagate, now the other WD HD died. What type of external HD should I get? There seem to be many different types. I would like a 1000GB. Should I bother with replacing the bad drive too? I have Vista.
thank you.

There is one thing mos of end users missed, stay away from the PLASTIC case, those can not transmit the heat properly, and it eventually will kill you HDD.

My clients have use the same HDD with Aluminium case for OVER 8 years - Just look for the metal case if you could

There are some external cases people use it as production with multiple drives and hardware raid capable of transfer over 250MB/sec by connected to the Motherboard SATA port
