So just wanted to ask if I should get the 285 instead of the 4890 that I have right now! I'm asking this because I'm getting a new CPU (Core i7) and i have room to CF or SLI with the new mobo in a few months when i get the money. so what should I do, stay with the card I have now (4890 specs and benchmarks are below) or get a 280 or 285 ? (don't really want to spend the money on a 285! so its really the 280 I'm looking into, unless there is that big of a difference)

So the real Question is will I get a better price to performance with a CF 4890 or SLI 280,285 when I get the Core i7 ?

PC specs
GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-UD4H
XFX Radeon 4890
Phenom II X4 940 OC 3.6
4GB RAM

FPS I get:
CoD4 - 152
L4D - 155
Crysis - 32

Please What do you think ?!

i think you should leave your setup alone for now and purchase a single gpu from the next gen of cards. Your 4890 suffices for the games out right now and i think you'd be better off sticking with it until the new stuff.

Stay. The 4890 and the 280 are about equal, while the 285 is around 10% higher, and if you oc that 4890, youll get that anyways.
Also, having DX10.1 will become more and more useful down the line anyways, and also, this close to the DX11 cards release, its just not worth it.
Id keep the card, and either decide to go DX11 when it arrives, or buy a 2nd 4890 when the prices drop.
The 285 sli is tough to beat, but youre paying for it too

Considering you already have one HD4890 it's makes worlds more sense from a price vs performance perspective to get another one than getting 2 new 280s or 285s.
This seems like a silly question to be honest.

yeah. i'd say you have 2 options essentially.

1. hold off on any upgrades until DirectX 11
2. Wait for the price drop and get a second 4890

Well one of the reasons i want a new one is because when Modern Warfare 2 comes out with L4D2 i want to be able to play them ! will i be able to do that with this card ?

haha okay. MW2 is going to be DirectX 9 based with pretty much the same performance as COD4/5. dont worry about it
