Upgrading Processor, need Advice

Hi all,

I build my PC around 6 months ago, and now I am looking to upgrade it so that I am ready for Aion. Right now I have:

Athlon 64 X2 5400+ O.C.d to 3.2Ghz
Muskin 4GB DDR2 PC 6400
Biostar 790 GX A2+
ATI 4850.

I will be dropping in another 4850 with the upgrade, but I want to upgrade my CPU/Mobo.
I was going to Intel, but didn't want to pay the premium for I7.

Would a E8400 work? What Mobo should I use with it?

Can you give the exact model number of the motherboard ?

an intel cpu will not fit but there are newer and more powerful amd cpu's that will plug right in

A phenom X3 720 be is about $130 and more powerful multitasker than the intel you mention and just as good for gaming

You have a decent motherboard so you don't really need to go out and spend +$100 on P45 board for crossfire when you can just upgrade your CPU. Put in a Phenom II and over clock it.
