Archived from groups: alt.video.ptv.tivo (More info?)
From other threads I have realized that you must have an "approved" codec
installed to be able to view .tivo files. I have a new Dell Windows Media
Center PC 2005. Through trial and error and the Windows XP Video Decoder
checkup utility I have the proper Sonic codec to view the files, but only
after I delete (or rename) the first codec that is listed in the Windows XP
Video Decoder checkup utility list of codecs that I have installed, namely a
codec called "Ligos MPEG Video Decoder file located at
windows/system32/lmpgd.ax"
When I rename or delete this codec I can view .tivo files, however, then I
cannot view any mpeg files in Windows Media Center. When I restore this file
the opposite problem occurs, I can view mpegs but can't view .tivo files
Does anyone have a solution? For example, is there a way to not have the
Ligos codec listed first? I do not have it set as the preferred codec.
