I thought I would look into sound cards to see if I can find something better then I already have, for fairly cheap. I currently have an Sound Blaster Audigy 2. I do a bit of gaming and some general music listening, but not so much on the recording side. I am totally ignorant when it comes to sound cards, and just audio in general, so I was hoping you guys could help me out here.

There is a shellshocker deal on newegg for a sound card, but I do not know if it would be better or worse then what I already have.

Any more information you need on request.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

the main bottleneck for poor sound in most computers is not the soundcard, but the speakers. if you want better sound, invest in a good set of speakers rather than a soundcard. that would be the easiest way to go.

also, if you buy a better soundcard without upgrading your speakers also, you would be basically wasting your money.

I currently have a set of Skullcandy headphones. These to be exact. Would you still suggest upgrading rather then new sound card?
