Hi I'm thinking of upgrading my processor but not sure if my system will take a core 2 duo or quad core. I have a Dimension 9100 P4 3.2GHZ with a Dell 0x8582 motherboard and Intel 945P chipset.

Not from what I can see. Best bet is a new mobo. Not expensive. $50 or so for a decent Gigibyte G31.
