Worth upgrading?

As of right now..
Core 2 Duo 2.66
8800 GTX 768MB
2GB Corsair 800MHz (I'm on XP)
250GB 7200 WD
It's nothing special, but i was planning on spending around 1800 on a brand new I7 build around next month, just don't know if i should hold off or not so i can get in on the new DX11 stuff.

May I suggest you do the i7 build and pop the 8800 in as a stop-gap? It is by no means a weak card and you can then make a decision on DX11 hardware when it arrives-While still playing with that nice, shiny i7
Or you could do the above, and put a good but cheap card in the current rig and sell it as a going concern, with a HD4870 it's still going to a pretty good gaming system.

I actually like that idea alot... plus its gonna take a while for me to complete the new build because i plan on having the entire thing WC'd.

Actually, I do that sort of thing quite a bit: Build almost complete, use the 'old card' until it's time to upgrade then put it back in the previous rig and E-Bay it
