This will be my first RAID, so I'm looking for a little bit of guidance on the best strategy.

I am currently running XP 64 on a single HD with an end goal of running 7 on a hardware RAID 10 built on four identical 500 gig drives. My 7 install disc is a student version that indicates that a "previous OS license is required." My current plan of action is to build the RAID through the BIOS, install a fresh copy of Vista, and then use the upgrade disc to move to 7. Will the RAID have to be rebuilt or will 7 install on top of Vista without a lot of fussing about the driver? Does anyone have any experience with this? Would I be able to just build the RAID and go straight to 7 using my license number?

Thank you!
