I'm building a gaming rig. I'd like to use a western digital 10,000 rpm hard drive as my primary and a standard WD 7,200 rpm drive for storage and a few non game apps. My question is is there any problems with having drives of different rpms?

no problems you'll be fine. In fact it's the same setup i have.
