Okay to directly clone my 60gb Vertex 2 to my 50gb Vertex 2?

I think this is probably okay to do but I wanted to make sure. Making some changes and need to use the smaller drive in a different place now. I know there is some alignment or something that is done on the drive and didn't know if the clone would cause a problem. Thanks.

Yeah, you'll be alright. Be sure to use a cloning program that preserves the alignment and all will be good. I recently used EASEUS to clone my SSD and it still has proper alignment.

You can check your alignment after the clone using AS SSD. It gives you a green "OK" on the upper left of the window if alignment is good for your SSD.

Okay cool. I will check that out. I will be using acronis true image backup to do it. Hopefully that is okay. Latest version.

Acronis is a top cloning program. I'm sure the latest version will preserve your alignment.
