So i built a new system and apparently i didnt mount the fan properly I didnt click all of the locking mechanisims all the way through the board for it to be completely secure. I ran the system for about 4-5 days and one day when i did a system reboot cpu overheat! comes up so I shut it down and start to investigate. I realized my mistake and quickly corrected it. The cpu is now running fine but my question is could this have cause any long term damage to the cpu? It is at stock clock but I am planning on OC'ing up to 4ghz once I get new fan/paste. I havent even had it 14 days and could easily rma the product. Any opinions? Oh btw when i felt the back side of the board where the cpu is located when it was overheating it was pretty damn hot. Thanks.
