APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Within 2 weeks

BUDGET RANGE: US $900-1250 (might have a little room to stretch, but I would like to stay much closer to the low end)

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, Internet, Movies occasionally.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers, Microphone, Optical Drives, Monitor (unless you find a heck of deal)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Doesn't really matter too much as long as they are reputable. I would prefer free shipping and to buy everything in the same place.

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel CPU, maybe XFX gpu, maybe asus mobo? (up for suggestions)

OVERCLOCKING: Probably

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe in the future

MONITOR RESOLUTION: My current monitor is 1280x1024 but I would being willing to work with higher wide screen resolutions if I can find a deal on a monitor. Nothing too crazy

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Aesthetics don't make much of a difference as long as it's not hideous. I suppose I'm looking for a quadcore (for future-proofing maybe i7 920?) . DDR2 or DDR3?

I've haven't really kept up with the computer scene for some time, so you'll have to forgive the lack of parts selection.

Q or i7?

Definitely an Intel chipset and around 4gb of RAM.

These builds sparked my interest.

With this setup you should be good to go. Be able to xfire latter and be able to add a new monitor when ready and OC just add some cpu glue in with the order.

Others might be able to help more

GL with the build

niklas_13' build is very good...but I would change a few things...

1. Definately the CPU cooler...That Zalman is overpriced for the performance it offers...
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/c [...] undup.html

The Scythe Mugen 2 offers better performance for far less...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835185093

2. Mobo - That Gigabyte is definately a very good mobo no doubt...but it is prices high on newegg...

Here are few ASUS options ...
If you will only crossfire -
ASUS P6T SE LGA 1366
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131386

But my favourite - Just $30 more but well worth it...
ASUS Rampage II GENE LGA 1366 Intel X58
Review - http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] ,2302.html
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131371

And look out for combos in newegg...would save you lot of cash...

Thanks a ton. I really appreciate you guys going out of your way to help me out.

Oh, and Why_Me, I already have an optical drive, but thank you for the suggestion.

So, here is what I came up with after going through all the parts you guys posted. Hopefully there's nothing wrong.

$1260.82 shipped - $1240.82 after rebates :bounce: Perfect

get a bigger case, the antec 300 is an absolute nightmare to work with higher end PC's like yours.
