I have an old Sony Vaio laptop from around 2001. It's the Model PCG-933A. It was given to me by my niece a few yrs ago. I upgraded the RAM memory to the max...which was about 512MB, if I remember correctly. I wanted to go online with it, but my DSL carrier doesn't support ME (Millennium Edition). I have an old CD of theirs (the DSL carrier) that probably has the right drivers, but I haven't been able to extract them properly.
Basically, I want to know if it's feasible or advantageous to update the hard drive. If I can, I would like to give the laptop to a boy I mentor for school. He doesn't have a lot of money and this gift wouldn't be inappropriate, given its age. Oh yeah, I bought two new batteries for it. It was a top-of-the-line laptop in its day with a DVD player, which still plays movies great. It has its own case, literature etc. It was built of course, for a docking station and all that peripheral stuff. I don't even want to go down that road.
Short of upgrading it more, if not possible, I'd like to at least get online with it, update the media player and be able to use it as a source to DJ dances for kids. I've done this already, but the media player sucks.
