What's the best configuration for pairing couple 4890 (CF)? whether PII 955 & 790FX (16x/16x) OR Corei5 750 & P55 (8x/8x)

There's no difference: the 4890 doesn't saturate x8, but the i5 setup is better as a whole.

well i would personally go for intel but amd use to have better bang for buck so its a really good question. intel=quality, amd=bang for buck.. thats my opinion..

That's a horrible piece of advice: AMD doesn't deliver less quality, it delivers less bang, but often more bang for buck (except when it comes to the PII/i5 dilemma, in that case Intel delivers more bang for buck.)
