APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Within a couple months BUDGET RANGE: <$1000 USD

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Dual Boot Mac/win

Mac OSX: Everyday usage/email/internet/photoshop

Windows 7: HD Movies Playback and ability to play games without much lag would be nice (GTA IV, prototype) - im not much of a gamer so more emphasis should be placed on being able to watch blueray dvds and HD compressed movies.


PARTS NOT REQUIRED: as far as this recommendation, do not consider: a monitor (looking for a 32", separate budget), keyboard, mouse, case (I havea pretty large case)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: always been a fan of newegg.com but am open to trustworthy alternates

PARTS PREFERENCES: I think I am looking for a quad core intel chip, no clue on motherboard. I am unsure what is most important for movie playback, CPU or Graphics card...I will not be doing encoding...So I don't know if I would double up on a card (SLI or cross) or just need one card...

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe

MONITOR RESOLUTION: I am used to a 4:3 res on my t60p...but I think I will need to go for the widesreeen for the movie compatibility


ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I guess a good balance of ability to playback BRDVDs and play some modern games well all while maintaining compatibility to run Mac OSX.

I mainly looking for a cpu/mobo/graphics card/ram combo that will work.

^you might want to switch to the Radeon HD 4870, they are now using it in macs so there is support for it, not sure about the 4890
