I have 2 ribbon cables that came with my motherboard - one is an IDE cable and the other is a floppy drive cable. I don't have a floppy drive so I am not concerned about that one, but what is the IDE cable for? I can't find any edge connectors on the vid card, hard drive, or dvd unit, so I am wondering if it is not required with my build.

Also, the corsair psu has any 8 pin EPS12V connector that I plugged into the ATX_12V_2X connector on the motherboard.
I assumed that was where it went because they are both 8 pin connectors - was I correct?

Here are the specs for my new build, just finished up this morning:

IDE is an older interface for storage devices like hard disks and optical drives. Since your hard drive and DVD burner both use SATA, you will not need the IDE connector. You have the right idea about the power connector.
