1.Overview of the problem
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Computer simply won't turn on.
2.Full description of the problem and symptoms
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I built this system about 10 months ago and it ran like a champ. No OC'ing, nothing out of the specs. It literally was fine when I left (on stand by) and when I returned it was dead. I hit the pwr button - nothing....no fans, not even on the pwr supply.
3.Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rock solid for 10 months. Nothing new installed (the last thing I did was bring a folder of mp3s from a jump drive onto the desktop - hadn't even peeked inside yet.)
4.I already tried these steps:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Took the RAM and the pwr supply to Fry's and asked them nicely to check them out -both were good.
Outlets good too -and all the switches in the 'on' position. Also checked to make sure I was getting contact (pushed in all the cords.)
◦Case NZXT TEMPEST Crafted Series CS-NT-TEM-B Black Steel
7.Other information that might be relevant
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've already established that the PS is not the issue (and already tried another PS just in case Fry's was wrong.)
I have another mobo but it's not compatible (and neither then would the cpu be.)
Bad power button...whew. Jumping worked and then I was able to fix the pwr button. Wow...(The guy at the local comp store (not a chain store) came up with the solution too, and actually didn't charge me-guess who I'm going to buy my next upgrade parts from?
Glad to support the locals, and thanks for the replies too
This guy could've easily sold me a mobo...very cool that he was honest. I bought a small item on the spot and will definitely be back.
