Cannot log on to secure sites

My husbands computer is a little older HP running XP service pack 2. After his mom was internet shopping on Black Friday, he can no longer log on to his Yahoo accounts, or any secure web page using password. Help!

Is the date and time set correctly on the computer?
You may have picked up a virus from shopping.
