I'm doing a new build in a couple of weeks and I've been trying to figure out what would be a good reasonably sized and quiet HSF.
I don't really like the heatpipe direct touch models such as 212+ cos i just don't feel like the contact is as good as it can be.
I don't have a CPU & Mobo yet, but i do have an antec 300 illusion case where the HSF needs to go into.
Also don't know if I am going AMD or Intel yet, but the most likely combo will be i5 2500k and a p67/Z68 board.
Memory will be Gskill RipjawsX.
I have some Arctic Silver 5 for themal paste so I am good on that.
From a little digging around with the matter Scythe Mugen 3 looks promising. Good performance and quiet operation at a reasonably price tag.
Generally I'd like to keep the price below $70 with fan(s), but I'm open to suggestions.
