i have a laptop and now it just shuts off after about 3 seconds. sometimes i can get to the BIOS menu before it shuts off but i do not have time to check out the settings. does anyone know what could have caused this problem?
thanks
but i know its not over heating because the fans are clean and it shows the BIOS screen for a second or 2 then turns off which doesnt give it time to overheat
u COULD have dust on the fins of the heatsink and it wouldnt matter how good the fans are spinning because it disrupts heat dissapation... check that too

well its an Hp Pavillion Ze4805us its probably about 5 years old. and it sometimes wont charge. to get it to charge you have to move tha cable around until it finaly works and then if u move it at all it wont charge.
Hmmm...... sounds like a failing power supply. Although i have a few questions before i say for sure what is the problem.
1. What is the laptop? (manufacture and model)
Hp Pavilion ze4805us
2. how old is the laptop.
5 or 6 years
3. How long has the problem been going on? (today, yesterday, last month)
it just started about 5 dyas ago although its always had a problem with charging. unless u mess around with the cable and get it set just right it wont charge and thats has kept getting worse over time.
