I have access to the following components and prices:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 $152
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 $202
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 $225
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 $245

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850 512MB $159
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850 1 GB $179
XFX GeForce GTS 250 512MB $175
XFX GeForce GTS 250 512MB $199

I'm planning on use this mostly for gaming, and I'm not thinking on going over 1600x1200 since my monitor doesnt support more than that.

What do you guys suggest?

intel core 2 quad q9550s
go with a ati, sapphire, msi, does not matter still the same backbone to it,
radeon hd 4870 1 gig gdr5 minimum

got this setup and it is perfect for me.
