I have the same processor in an MSI MS 7309 motherboard, and wondering if you could tell me what you did to overclock the Phenom X3 8400. I want to bring it up to 2.3 Ghz from the standard 2.1Ghz current speed. Is there special settings in my BIOS or did you use a software program? I thank you for your response.

Can u tell me that what options you have got in your bios for overclocking and that way i can help you easily.BTW i didn't done anything special to get reach 2.5GHz, i have just changed my CPU voltages and simply increased the speed from 2.1GHz to 2.5GHz that's it.

Pointero7...where in BIOS did you increase the voltages? I have a MSI motherboard model K9N6PGM2-V (MS-7309)and don't know where to set the voltages manually. Only place in BIOS settings to increase anything manually is the section for the RAM voltages (DDR2-800Mhz). Is that where I can manually set the numbers for the CPU increase? Thanks for your response, and any other info you can offer.

Don't count on getting to 2.8ghz on phenom 1. They are well known for being difficult to overclock unlike phenom 2. The 95w and 125w as well 140w are not very good overclocks except for a few models that are already maxed out of the box. The E versions 65w are better but still sub 3ghz.
