Blank hard drive installing an OS

I recently build a new system and ordered a 160 GB hard drive from Newegg, and I'm not sure if there is anything extra I should know before it comes.

I do not have any other hard drive in the computer, so it will essentially be a blank hard drive in a new system. I have a Windows 7 Ultimate boot disk, so will that work if I put it in the optical and install it?

that is how it usually works. make sure to set your dvd drive as the first boot drive in the BIOS

Also, it's a good idea to have the controller set to AHCI prior to installing the operating system.
