Nha, might as well skip it to Core 2 Duo. A new G31 is only $50 or so...

I was looking at the BIO revision history for your 7600DC and it appears that it will not support any of the core 2 duos. If you change the motherboard to a new chipset and processor, you will have to re-install the OS. According to the Intel website the 945GZ chipset will support the Core 2 Duos. I would go to the Intel website and download their chipset identifier at: http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=444831
