Hello All,

I am considering upgrading my old M2A-VM system which at present has a Athlon 64 X2 4000 CPU with 4Gb of 667 memory and a old GF-6200TC graphic card. the 2 HD are SATAII.

i am looking at: Athon 64 X2 7850 Black CPU + 4Gb of 800 memory + a new graphic card?

this system is for general use and sometimes workstation (ACAD 9) applications (no gaming).

suggestions please?

thanks.

Sincerely,

William

Yes those upgrades are good...But replacing 4GB 667MHz with 800MHz might not reflect significantly...
But if you have 4x 1GB 667MHz, then change it to 2x 2GB DDR2 800 beacuse when all the memory slots are poplulated, then the memory speed gets limited and can cause latency...

THanks for reply . . .

so i may be better off putting the extra $$ into a better graphics card than upgrading 667 memory to 800, correct? i have 2x 2Gb 667MHz memory at present.

is it a big issue if i mix 667 with 800 if i separate the memory types into specfic banks/channels? i thinnk 800 is as cheap or cheaper than 667 these days.

what is good PCIe graphics card for the M2A-VM with the AMD Athlon 64 X2 7850 CPU?

thanks,
Billy
