Need a good HD health program

One of the hard drives in my work computer was making some grinding noises so I'm paranoid about drive death. What's a good free program that can tell me the health of my hard drive?

I've heard of CrystalDiskInfo, but when I go to cnet to download it, the reviews say it's got some sort of adware in it. I don't need detailed info or constant monitoring like drive temperature. I just want to do a scan once in a while to see if there are bad sectors or any glaring risks. I'm told that SMART errors are the thing to watch out for.

Can anyone recommend a free program for this? Thanks
