Building my 1st gaming computer trying to keep it around $700 to $800. It will only be used to game, maybe surf the web lol

MotherBoard

MSI 790GX-G65 AM3 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

The motherboard will support

CPU AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Black Processor

Video card VisionTek 900244 Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Memory G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM

Is the motherboard compatible so far? Is there a more economical choice? Would there be a alternative?

Does the set-up sound good so far for gaming computer.
Thanks

Great info. This is what I'm looking for.

I don't know if I'll ever cross fire, but if I wanted would the 785G allow cross firing?

No. However I always suggest just getting the best single graphics card you can afford. Then upgrade it down the road and sell the old one.

The problem with crossfire is a lot of times when you decide to get the second card, they are already discontinued and you will have to buy one used on ebay or something.

Usually you also will need to upgrade your power supply to add a second card.

Also if you dont have a very fast cpu, it wont keep up with 2 cards anyways.

Its up to you.

Hi, I'm going for the AMD Athlon II X3 435 Rana 2.9GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Processor

For the GPU would the Radeon 4890 1GB be worth the $ compared to the HD 5770, or is the HD 5770 the way to go?
I've been looking at these also. I do get what you are saying about cross firing. Too many things to consider :pt1cable:

thanks
