I just had a 24" monitor crap out on me. I loved the thing. It had a resolution of 1920 X 1200.

I'm looking at new monitors, and it seems there has been a steady trend at making these monitors 1920 X 1080 now.

Why is this? Which is better over all?

Thats because 1920 X 1080 is native full HD as in BluRay resolution.

What budget do you have, most 19 x 10 res monitors are meant for mass market appeal and use cheaper components whilst alot of 19 x 12 screens are more expensive but better quality.

its not about better, its just about the resolution.

1920x1080 = has an aspect ratio of 1.77, its the native resolution of HD and Blu-ray.
1920x1200 = has an aspect ratio of 1.6, its the native resolution of Widescreens.

so its not abotu which is better, its about whatever you want, no major difference between them, really...

i don't know bout which are generally cheaper or more expensive, sry...

gd luck.

Seerwan, most 19 x 10 panels are TN based and inferior to other types which many 19 x 12 panels are made from. True you get cheaper 19 x 12 panels also but you don't AFAIK get a decent 19 x 10 model.
