I have a compaq about a year old. It is running Vista home ed. Last weekend the IP config changed all of a sudden and now has a 169. ip address. I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps but nothing changed my ability to access the internet.
As a last resort I restored the settings back to the day before I lost connectivity. That fixed the problem. The settings went back to what they were and BAM!!!!!!!!!! i had internet. But, about 12hours later no internet and the settings were back to the 169 address.
Anyone have an answer to what would cause this? I have read many tech forums and blogs, but no real answers have surfaced as to why this is happening.
