Is there a right side up for hard drives in the horizontal position

Is there a right or wrong way to set a hard drive in the horizontal position. I have an external hard drive that I want to set on its side and I don't know if is can rest on either side.

It doesn't really matter to the drive itself which way it's mounted as the heads are spring-loaded and use air pressure to "fly" above the media at the correct height. The spring and counterbalancing air pressure are a lot higher than gravity and so the orientation of the drive isn't an issue.

That having been said, drives mounted horizontally are usually positioned with their circuit boards down if for no other reason than to avoid having them collect dust.
