How much dedicated RAM is enough?

I was just curious as to whether or not 512 MB of deciated RAM was enough to play games such as World of Warcraft or other MMORPG's.

Yea It's enough to play it, depends though what kind of card you have. Like if you have a really old card with 512, it might not work, though gpus that old prob didn't go up to 512. If there is not enough ram on the gpu then it'll "barrow" some from your regular ram.

On my old computer, my integrated graphics ran WoW, but not good, so I'm guessing any decent video card can run it at the higher options.

Also you double posted.

That is largly dependent on you resoluation and if you plan on using high levels of anti-aliasing/anisotropic filtering. 512MB should be plenty for 1680x1050 or lower with high AA/AF settings. Higher res like 1920 and up, 1GB should help some more. But in general 512MB should do the job just fine.

Yea, it is a new computer, and the RAM is 4 GB, so i was pretty sure that it would play that between the dedicated and shared RAM, but I just wanted to be sure. My other computer was okay, but the graphics card was crap. Thanks

And I saw i double posted after I posted the second one, I thought the first one hadn't posted. Thanks for the heads up tho.

I ran WoW and EQ great on my old x1650PRO 512MB at 1280x720 resolution, and a Athlon 64 4800+ dual core CPU, with only 2GB of 667 ram. Sure the graphics were turned down in WoW, but everything was smooth and bug free.
