When I plug my 4 pin plug in to my motherboard my system will not turn on, but when I remove the 4 pin there is power.

  1. You may be using the wrong 4 pin connector. You can't use the leftover 4 pin that breaks off many 24 pin atx wires to use on older 20 pin atx ports. Or you may have a bad 4 pin lead, or board problem. If your board runs without the 4 pin plug, it may not hurt anything. List your complete system specs if you want more advice.
