Could of donw alot better for $1600, remember to always come here and ask before you buy, pass that on to whom ever needs a computer built.

Ram: CL 9 is really loose timings, wont get the best speed/performance, may be a little more stable, not much though.("maybe")

Motherboard: Should be fine but, theres better deals or combo's.
Video: thats fine, is this gaming though?
OS: Ultimate vista 64-bit is not worth that kind of buy, never will be. anything small and getting the windows 7 would of been better since you can get it free till march then get the actual windows 7.

Case: should be ok, small for my liking, with money you could of saved you could of easily picked up a antec 900/cm rc-690/storm sniper cm.

HDD: WD's arent bad, the wd black is what you should have been recommended.

Also.

No gaming or overclocking. I need a fast stable system for AUTOCAD and running multiple apps. Some video editing and avi to dvd recode. I went with the WD Enterprise edition HD's for reliability and speed. I have the Antec P180 case on my current rig and love it. I heard the P183 was a good upgrade and went with it. Purchased everything from "Ewiz". I agree about the Vista Ultimate. I will probably go direct to Windows 7. However I will have the upgrade coupon. The only real beating I think I took was on the i7-920 cpu. I could have purchased this from Microcenter for $199.99 and got a DO stepping? But I was there a few days ago and they were sold out. Now they have them in stock, but it's somewhat of a drive. I checked pricing on everything else at Newegg and Zipzoomfly. I found Ewiz to be the lowest on the majority of items. So I don't think I got hosed to bad???? I almost bought a i7-920 sytem from HP the other day. They run 30% off desk top sytems here and there. Even with the 30% off they could not come close to the system I configured above. I should have room for growth. So in the future I definitely will check here first.
Thanks

hmmm i just built my comp for about 15-16 hundred... and I feel like i got more out of it..
I'd upgrade that 4890 for the atomic version which is wicked

your cutting yourself short... 1T by WD is just under $100 the green(energy saving) version is like 10 dollars cheaper

I would strongly recommend just get windows RC 7 save 200 for now you have 8 months to figure it out =]

Its weird because my build I got a lot more for nearly identical price tag. I even purchased a 80 dollar mouse... lol although i got a 4870 vapor X graphic's card (sale for 150 on newegg)
Click on my name and you'll find my post/build setup.

Also if you want to find out if the 920 is D0 look at the box and turn it so you see the right side. There will be a white label telling you the model specs.
There will be 3 barcodes and between the 1st/2nd one it will say: S-spec: SLBEJ <-- thats the codename for D0
Look it up online for more details.
So i'd check micro center or whatever, if its not what your looking for just ask like your curious about the next model up. Then act like you can not make a decision between the two. Allowing you to walk away without hurting the employee's feelings.
